AOL India sells its call centre operations in Bangalore to Aegis BPO

AOL India has decided to sell its call centre operations in Bangalore to Aegis BPO Services, an Essar Group company. Under the deal, Aegis will take over employees of AOL's call centre operations in Bangalore on its rolls and provide customer service and technical support to AOL customers.

MakeMyTrip outsources call centre operations to IBM Daksh

Travel portal MakeMyTrip.com has decided to outsource its contact centre operations related with post sales queries and flight ticket booking requests to IBM Daksh. As part of the deal, IBM Daksh will take over about 230 employees from MMT on its rolls. The company evaluated six companies before awarding the deal to IBM Daksh.

Flight tickets of budget airlines may become costlier if booked on travel portals

Budget airlines are reportedly planning to make the fares offered by online travel agents costlier than that offered by their own websites by reducing the commission paid to the travel agents and loading on some extra charges if the ticketing comes through the travel portal.

Google introduces voice-based local search service in Hyderabad

Google India has introduced a voice-based local search service in Hyderabad where users can call a toll free number (1 800 41 99 99 99) and get information about restaurants, movies and other local businesses.

IPL bans websites from covering its Twenty20 cricket competition Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 cricket competition created by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has banned websites like Rediff.com and CricInfo.com from covering the cricket event.

MakeMyTrip records Rs 1,000 crore in sales in 2007-08, claims 40% market share

Online travel company MakeMyTrip.com has said it recorded sales of Rs 1,000 crore in the financial year ended March 2008, making it India's largest travel site, with a 40 per cent market share. MakeMyTrip also claims to sell over 8,000 flight tickets, 1,000 hotel room nights and over 100 holiday packages every day.
